David Frank, MD, PhD
Christopher Brett Wolf Chair, Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Emory University School of Medicine Winship Cancer Institute
Dr. Frank studies the regulation of gene expression in cancer cells, focusing on the role that inappropriate activation of STATs and other transcription factors play in cancer pathogenesis. Based on discoveries in his laboratory, he has initiated the first clinical trials of small molecule STAT inhibitors for cancer therapy. He is now aiming to leverage this strategy of targeting oncogenic transcription factors to enhance immune-based killing of gastric and esophageal cancers, using approaches that can rapidly be tested in clinical trials.
